esol Improve your Reading with Dorota Ochoa Baez

 

Intensive ESOL class preparing for accredited ESOL Speaking and Listening at Entry 3 level. The class is on Thursday 10-12 pm

You will:

- improve your grammar

- expand your vocabulary

- become more fluent when speaking

- become more confident

To be able to get to accredited class in January you are advised to attend this course as a preparation.

COMPUTERS FOR BEGINNERS with Sue tovell

 

This short course will provide you with the basic computer and Internet skills needed for registering on Universal JobMatch and online jobsearch.The class is on Wednesday from 11-1pm.

At the end of the programme,  you should be able to do at least one of these tasks:

- Use the computer keyboard

- Use the mouse

- Open an email account

- Access and register Universal JobMatch

- Apply for jobs online

YOGA FOR EVERY BODY with jennifer Rogers

 

Gentle Yoga classes for Every Body and every skills. The session is on Tuesday 11-12 pm.

By the end of this course you will:

- be more relaxed

- feel more flexible about your body

- feel helathier in your body and mind

- identify poses that work for you best

No experience required.

If possible it would be good to have a Yoga mat. 

Improve your sewing skills,

tutor to be  confirmed


This course isaiming at people who have basic sewing skills and have a sewing machine at home. The day and time will be confirmed soon.

By the end of the course you will:

- be a more confident user of a sewing machine

- cut and prepare a pattern

- complete a simple sewing project

- insert a zip

Sewing for beginners will be availabe as well so please check the website for updates. 

healthy eating on a budget with jennifer rogers

 

This project aims to promote better understanding of food for both physical and mental health. The date will be confirmed.

At the end of the programme, you should be able to:

- Identify foods are good for your mental health

- Complete a food and mood diary to reflect what foods improved your state of mind.

- Recognise what foods are needed in healthy eating.

You will have an opportunity to gain Food Hygiene Level 1 or 2 Certificate.

This course will improve your mental well-being and allow you to enjoy the moment. The day and time will be confirmed soon.

During the course you will:

- have an opportunity to be part of a team

- take part in discussion about the design

- be actively engaged in designig and creating the mosaic

This course offers an opportunity to develop your communication and teamwork skills in a classroom learning environment & in a practical setting whilst you volunteer in the Spires day centre. This course is designed to help you progress into further training, voluntary placements or employment. The sessions take place on Wednesday 10-12 pm , the tarting date will be confirmed.

By the end of this 8 week programme you will:

- Present a portfolio of evidence for achievement of an OCN Progression Qualification

- Carry out practical volunteering tasks safely and confidently within the Spires day centre

- Be part of a team of volunteers and reflect on your place within the team

- Identify personal goals and practical ways to achieve these

- Demonstrate positive and effective communication as a volunteer

Units taught on the course: Mental Health, Drugs, Alcohol Addiction, Sex work, Homelessness, Equality and Diversity

This course aims to either help you realise your artistic potential or offer the opportunity for you to return  to your creative pursuits. It will include a summary of art history and the chance to explore different media using

a variety of techniques enabling you to develop your own style and let go of any inhibitions. The day and time will be confirmed.

At the end of the programme, you should be able to:

Increased confidence in painting and drawing techniques, take part in an exhibition of work.

This course will help you improve your English skills and become more confident when speaking English. The class takes place on Tuesday 10-12 pm.

By the end of the course you will:

- gain lots of confidence

- expand your vocabulary

- improve your grammar

guided meditation with Rob Malkin

 

This course will help you to stop for a moment and unwind.

The course will guide you through various meditation techniques such as breathing. The course is on Monday, 10-11 am.

By the end of the course you will:

- be much calmer

- have identified techniques that work for you
